Capichera

 

The Gallura area, in the north-eastern corner of the island of Sardinia, is famous for

its Vermentino, a fruity, easy-drinking white wine enjoyed by the many tourists that

visit this beautiful area during the summer months. This was until the early 1980s

when the Ragnedda brothers, founder of Capichera, realized the true potential of

Vermentino.

 

Through attentive vineyard management and vinification and ageing in oak barrels,

Capichera created a Vermentino of great complexity and structure, a great wine

capable of ageing up to 20-25 years, something that was previously unheard of for

this grape variety. Capichera's Vermentino helped forever change the image of this

grape and can today be considered one of the great whites of Italy.
